About Us

Founded in 2017, Eastwood Memory Cafe is a not-for-profit organisation helping those affected by dementia and their carers to live well.

The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month from 12.30 - 3.00pm at Plumptre Hall, behind St. Mary’s Church, Church Street, Eastwood, Nottingham, NG16 3BS. Here, our committed team of volunteers provide guests with a safe space to socialise and have some fun in a welcoming, judgement-free environment. There is a small charge of £1 per guest and all money raised is reinvested into the Memory Cafe. A relative/supporter/carer must attend with the person affected by dementia, as we are unfortunately unable to provide respite care. Lunch is available at a cost of £3, which consists of sandwiches, side salad, fruit, crisps, and a snack - followed up by a sweet treat!

There is always something going on at the Memory Cafe, with activities such as chair yoga, craft sessions and board games, speakers and performers who take you back to the good old days, and the chance to enjoy a relaxing treatment with our resident Holistic Therapist.

For carers, we offer support and signposting to information and helpful local services, as well as the chance to have a chat with other carers. We also offer additional events, regular meet ups at a local pub, bowling, fun exercise, crafts and singing, along with trips to the theatre and days out.

Our long-term aim is to engage with our local community and beyond, to create a more dementia friendly society. We are working hard to remove the stigma and fear of mental health and by working with local people, businesses and schools we are actively striving for a more tolerant and understanding community. Plumptre Hall, where our monthly meetings are held, is located in central Eastwood and is disability-friendly with good access and available parking. It is on a bus route for those who do not drive. Eastwood Cars are very kindly giving a discount to our guests; please phone 01773 770000 or 01773 768009 and quote "Eastwood Memory Cafe".
